This city has the Gregorio Luperón Airport, which receives national and international flights. Every year Puerto Plata celebrates two festivals which are of great importance for this city. One of them is Merengue Festival, which is celebrated the 1st week of October and the other one is the Cultural Festival, celebrated on the 3rd week of June and it lasts one week.

The Cultural Festival offers people a close look to Dominican Culture, where they can enjoy folkloric music, jazz, merengue, Tribal African music and other genres. There is also crafts sales and exhibition made by local artists.

The zone where such activity is accomplished is very close from hotels and there is always taxi service with drivers who know the best places in Puerto Plata.
