Puerto Plata Cultural Festival

Puerto Plata is a beautiful province located in the northern coast; this coast is also known as Costa de Ámbar (amber coast). It’s one of most ancient cities in Dominican Republic and a tourist destination that offers paradise places, 1st quality hotel and there are many national and international celebrations.

This city has the Gregorio Luperón Airport, which receives national and international flights. Every year Puerto Plata celebrates two festivals which are of great importance for this city. One of them is Merengue Festival, which is celebrated the 1st week of October and the other one is the Cultural Festival, celebrated on the 3rd week of June and it lasts one week.

The Cultural Festival offers people a close look to Dominican Culture, where they can enjoy folkloric music, jazz, merengue, Tribal African music and other genres. There is also crafts sales and exhibition made by local artists.

The Festival is an excellent option to have a good time; the bars and discotheques of this place are open after the festival so you won’t get bored at all. The zone where such activity is accomplished is very close from hotels and there is always taxi service with drivers who know the best places in Puerto Plata.

Puerto Plata Cable Railway

The Cable Railway of Puerto Plata is very interesting place to live an exciting adventure. The railway cabins of Puerto Plata go to Loma Isabel de Torres in the touristic city of Puerto Plata.

Once you get to Loma Isabel de Torres you can observe a beautiful and dense garden like few in the world, with the most colorful plantations and exotic flowers with its natural and pleasant perfume.

Traveling by the railway to 1000 meters height, you can observe exuberant vegetation while you enjoy an unforgettable moment. Other spectacular view from the railway is the view of the Coast city of Puerto Plata.

On the top of Isabel de Torres Mountain it is the statue of Christ Redeemer or Christ of Liberty. The railway of Puerto Plata is the only one in the Dominican Republic; it was constructed in 1974.

The temperature on the mountain is very fresh and nice. The top has a 17 degrees temperature. Sometime visitors enjoy the space with the thin fog an condensation, which can wet hair, making of this an exciting experience for the Dominican people who have an eternal summer all the year long.

On Isabel de Torres Mountain there are also several areas and environments for a nice paradise walk. It also has cafeteria, exotic items and postcards store and sanitary services. The Railway of Puerto Plata and Isabel de Torres Mountain are part of Dominican pride.

Montecristi City

It is located in the northern part of Dominican Republic ; at east it borders with the province of Puerto Plata and at west it borders with Haití. Its coast is wet by the Atlantic Ocean. All this turn Montecristi into an excellent option for vacations.

Montecristi is a town that preserves its traditions; one important aspect of its culture is the celebration of “Fiestas de San Fernando” and “San Juan Bautista”, religious parties where the joy, songs and dances are combined.

Montecristi City has a deeply-rooted Carnival Culture, with “Los Toros” as the main figure of this carnival. Los Toros are characterized by the use of colorful masks decorated with horns as well as eye-catching costumes and whips.

Montecristi has beautiful beaches, including Punta Rucía, Bahía de Manzanillo and Manantial beaches. These beaches and the entire region in general is characterized by the little hotel and touristic exploitation, turning these into quiet and relaxing places.

The main tourism attraction in Montecristi is Morro de Montecristi, a paradise place with of arid nature; a sandy and dry mountain chain is enhanced in the place as well as a beautiful beach.
