Montecristi City


It is located in the northern part of Dominican Republic ; at east it borders with the province of Puerto Plata and at west it borders with Haití. Its coast is wet by the Atlantic Ocean.  All this turn Montecristi into an excellent option for vacations.

Montecristi is a town that preserves its traditions; one important aspect of its culture is the celebration of “Fiestas de San Fernando” and “San Juan Bautista”, religious parties where the joy, songs and dances are combined.

Montecristi City has a deeply-rooted Carnival Culture, with “Los Toros” as the main figure of this carnival. Los Toros are characterized by the use of colorful masks decorated with horns as well as eye-catching costumes and whips.

Montecristi has beautiful beaches, including Punta Rucía, Bahía de Manzanillo and Manantial beaches.  These beaches and the entire region in general is characterized by the little hotel and touristic exploitation, turning these into quiet and relaxing places.

The main tourism attraction in Montecristi is Morro de Montecristi, a paradise place with of arid nature; a sandy and dry mountain chain is enhanced in the place as well as a beautiful beach.

Other attractions in Montecristi are:  Montecristi National Park where Cayos Siete Hermanos is; there is also the Villa Elisa Scientific Reserve , beautiful mangrove swamp and the antique Reloj de Cuerdas or Reloj de Montecristi (spring Watch or Montecristi Watch).

In Montecristi the average temperature is 26.5º.  The peace that can be reached in this beautiful spot of Dominican Republic and the unforgettable landscapes transform Montecristi into a dream destination.
